Chief of Party- International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The International Rescue Committee, IRC, is bidding on a USAID RFA for the FANIKISHA Institution Strengthening Project in Kenya.

The FANIKISHA project aims to improve the health status and well-being of Kenyan citizens through improving the capacity of national Kenyan CSOs to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of smaller affiliate CSOs.

The RFA response is due 26 April 2011 and the project is anticipated to start 1 August 2011 and run for 5 years.

The anticipated budget range is $38m to $44m.

*Position is contingent upon award of contract.

Scope of work

The COP is responsible for ensuring that the project is implemented in accordance with the cooperative agreement, and all applicable USAID and USG regulations. The COP will be the primary representational link with USAID staff.

Duties:

· Operates the CCO vehicle safely and efficiently

· Responsible for ensuring that the inside and outside of vehicle are properly cleaned and fuelled on an ongoing basis. Keeps the interior of the assigned vehicle neat and orderly.

· Follows specific regularly scheduled routes, or responds to requests from the supervisor for management of unscheduled routes.

3 - 5 years experience in FMCG sales, preferably with an International Company.

Introduction

Save the Children works in over 120 countries to create a better world for children. Save the Children UK began working in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1994 when the conflict started in the East of the country. The Democratic Republic of Congo is acknowledged to be one of the most difficult countries in which to grow up. Access to essential services is very limited and children are subject to widespread exploitation and abuse, including recruitment into armed groups, forced labour, sexual abuse and abandonment. Save the Children UK operates in the East (North Kivu and Ituri) and West (Kinshasa and Kasai Oriental) of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The eastern programme is mainly rural and conflict-related, the western work is urban and development oriented. The main unifying theme is child protection, which includes a prominent role in the national Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration programme (East) as well as pioneering work with children accused of witchcraft (West). In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo programme makes an important contribution to the Save the Children’s global programme and campaign on education in conflict ‘Rewrite the Future’ and on Child Survival ‘Every One’.

Job Purpose
To manage in coordination with Field Manager and Director of Operations, the safety and security of all Save the Children staff in Democratic Republic of Congo, ensuring that all global policies and procedures are systematically applied across the country programme. This will include ongoing threat assessment and advising on risk management; the maintenance of appropriate guidelines; and ensuring that field working practices are robust and that all staff are aware of, trained in, and adhere to these policies and procedures. Integral to the posting is the ability to work successfully with field teams to cultivate capacity and motivation, thereby ensuring field-based responsibility for security analysis and management. Your support in the delivery of an effective security function will play a key role in the expansion of Save the Children programmes in Democratic Republic of Congo to increase impact and enable positive change for children.
