PROGRAM COORDINATOR (HEALTH)
Based in Kisumu and Bondo Program Units
(2 positions)
The incumbent will report to the Program Unit Manager and is responsible for designing and
managing implementation of Program Unit health programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure well managed budget
• Ensure well managed corporate systems e.g. PPM
• Ensure sufficient resources/grants raised in line with Program Unit Long Term Plans (PULTPs)
• Ensure effectively managed grants

PROGRAMME OFFICER

Main Job Purpose:
Responsible for planning, structuring, leading and executing KMWA projects and activities
This includes mobilizing resources and managing the programme team consisting of project management
staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the programme’s budget on behalf of the KMWA council, monitoring the expenditures and
costs against delivered and realized benefits as the programme progresses.
• Plan the programme and monitor its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action
as appropriate.
• Management and analysis of issues
• Build, manage and motivate the programme team.
• Ensure the delivery of new products or services from the projects is to the appropriate levels of quality,
on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan.
• Be responsible for the quality assurance and overall integrity of the programme.
• Manage third party contributions to the programme as appropriate.
• Communicate with all stakeholders in a timely and reasonable manner.
• Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects.
• Manage the risks to the programme’s successful outcome.

• Report progress of the programme at regular intervals to the KMWA council and the development
partners.

Skills/ Attributes Required
• A minimum of 3 years experience in Project/ Programme Management using leading methodologies
and processes
• Experience of managing multiple parties and achieving desirable goals
• The ability to manage people
• Understand budgetary control and resource allocation procedures.
• Ability to create a sense of community amongst the disparate members of the programme teams

Job Requirements
• Holder of a Master’s degree.
• At least 3 years working experience with programs.
• Good understanding of donor reporting, budgeting, program planning and reporting.
• Good advocacy, writing, organizational, fundraising and interpersonal skills
• Experience in working with health issues especially in a professional body/ organization
• Self starter with good initiative
• Experience with handling multiple relationships with donors and other stakeholders

Job Description:

Reporting to the Capacity Development Manager, the Capacity Development Officer will primarily be responsible for providing
Capacity Development support and interventions to partners that Pact Kenya works with.
These may include but not limited to regional and national civil society organizations, grassroots community groups, cooperative
societies, networks and coalitions, and professional associations.

Duties and responsibilities:
Specifically, the Capacity Development Officer will be responsible for but not limited to:
Capacity Development participation
• Working in liaison with Capacity Development Manager and other Capacity Development staff implement Pact Kenya’s
capacity develop strategy
• Develop detailed project work plans, including activity descriptions and timetables and manage the implementation of these
activities so as to ensure the project’s activities and outputs are executed on time and meet the desired quality standards
• Conduct Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCAs) and develop subsequent Capacity Development plans with targeted
CSOs
• Prepare OCA and training reports as required and on timely basis
• Prepare Capacity Development training modules and materials to respond to training needs identified through OCAs
• Plan and conduct trainings in governance and leadership, strategic planning, management, resource mobilization,
communication, networking and all other areas identified through OCAs
• Coordinate with other staff in the programme in providing technical support and mentorship to target CSOs covering all
organizational capacity development aspects
• Coordinate with other departments to provide training in other areas – financial management, business development and
marketing, conflict management, advocacy and also in providing technical services to target CSOs
• Track programme’s progress and make changes to the activity plans where appropriate, providing in each case a full
justification of these changes to the Supervisor

• Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects;

Background:

* Ensure responsible and efficient management of financial and other resources
* Ensure the organization keep with trends and development in its sector and environment; it is always up-to-date in terms of relevant socio-economic, food security, livelihood and rural economic developments.
* Provide on-going review and development of overall country strategy, and of individual project objectives.
* Encourage appropriate research with a view to improving the quality of field work and influencing policy changes that will improve the quality of life for people in Kenya.
* Build an effective team and responsible for the management and development of all programme staff.
* Provide leadership in building and maintaining effective relationships with partners.
* Create opportunities to promote and disseminate shared learning points within the programmes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities for National Staff position
  • Providing front-line management and programme set-up (including programme development, partnership management, logistic management)
  • Participate in programme Logframe development and Monitoring & Evaluation to ensure Logframe deliverables are met.
  • Manage programme budgets to ensure cost effectiveness and adequate spending levels are maintained.
  • Manage education proposal process from receipt of proposal to completion of projects where approved.
  • Participate in education project design, funding proposals, donor and other reports.
  • Supervision of the education programmes including monthly reporting of programme deliverables providing regular reporting of activities against education workplan.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the community groups on FOL Lifeskills peer education programme
  • Supervision of education bursary scheme including regular reporting of student deliverables and delivery of support based on identified students needs.
  • Providing organisational and technical support to MoE, PHO and local partners in the implementation of the Healthy Schools Programme .
  • Liaising closely with MoE and PHO to develop and ensure ownership and integration of Healthy Schools into existing schools including monitoring of existing programmes.
  • Representing FOL in key District level education meetings.
  • Assisting with FOL programme reviews and evaluations.
  • Documenting of programme processes.
  • Ensuring programme quality control.
  • Development of donor proposals and budgets.

Wildlife Clubs of Kenya (WCK) is a charitable, NGO formed in 1968 by Kenyan Students.

It was the first conservation education programme of its kind on the continent of Africa. According to Dr. George Schaller: “WCK is the most effective grass-roots programme of its kind in all of Africa.” WCK was elected to the UNEP’s Global 500 Honor roll in 1986.
WCK Headquarters is currently recruiting for the position of?Programmes Manager to be based in Nairobi with regular visits to our regional offices.


Main Objective of the position?
Reporting to the National Coordinator, the candidate will be responsible for overall programmes delivery and supervision of departmental staff towards the strategic implementation and operational management of programmes including fundraising for projects support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop and carry out a national programme of conservation education activities.
  • Coordinate all the organization’s programmes
  • Organize materials production and education resource development
  • Facilitate contacts with prospective donors and organize meetings with local donors – prepare background briefs etc for purpose of fund raising
  • Identify potential projects and prepare project proposals and letters for signing by the National Coordinator.
  • Identify and inform the National Coordinator on running basis of key strategic issues and prepare statements, reports, inputs on issues related to or of interest to WCK.
  • Guide and supervise the programmes department staff, coordinating their work in coherent and effective manner, in order to ensure that activities follow WCK scope, specifications, timetables, budget etc
  • Prepare interim reports to the National Coordinator and drafts of final reports to project donors.
  • Liaise with the National Coordinator in implementing the programme of activities and in lobbying for support.
  • Facilitating programme development links and lobbying for support with other conservation bodies and stakeholders by building synergies between environmental education, general education, and tourism.
  • Ensure the expansion of Club Membership ( both schools and corporate)
  • Act as a secretary to the WCK National Conservation Coordinating Committee
  • Identify advice and implement on technological requirements for the organisation and monitor usage of the same.
  • Put in place a Monitoring and Evaluation System which should involve at least 5 field visits to the regions per year.
  • Prepare/Compile an annual budget for all the programmes.
  • Support the National Coordinator in policy implementation
Minimum Qualifications and competences?
  • A Master’s Degree in Environmental studies i.e. Natural Resources, Wildlife Management
  • Minimum age of 35 years.
  • At least 6 years relevant working experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for environmental conservation and sustainable development
  • High computer literacy
  • Sound environmental awareness
  • Excellent organizational and a time management skills
  • Any other relevant training on Education for Sustainable Development will be an added advantage
