KENYA PLANT HEALTH INSPECTORATE INSPECTOR JOB


Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) is a state Corporation in the Agricultural Sector and
would like to invite applications from qualified Kenyans who are computer literate and under the age of
40 years for the following job positions.
Candidates from North Eastern Kenya are encouraged to apply.

INSPECTOR 
Ref: VA/1
Major duties and responsibilities:
• To inspect import/export produce for conformance to market standards.
• To work in liaison with laboratory Staff to ensure accurate plant pest identification.
• To undertake surveillance and other prescribed measures at the major boarder points of entry to
prevent introduction of risky pests.
• Coordinate training and awareness of stakeholders on produce quality standards and marketing
requirements.
• Organizing the Corporation’s participation in exhibitions, shows and field days.
• Responding to client queries from time to time.
• Prepare sectional reports in line with performance contracts.

Key qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany, Zoology, or any other relevant
field from a recognized university.
• Two year experience in the field of produce quality management or a first class honors in the
relevant area.
• Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of various marketing standards e.g. the EU
regulations, Global GAP, etc.
• Should be familiar with and understands the application of the WTO-SPS Agreement among
others.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems will be an added advantage.

Extension Officer











WWF – The Global Conservation Organization, Kenya Country Office (WWF-KCO), is seeking to recruit a Project Extension Officer– Mara River Basin Sustainable Forest and Water Resources Management Project to be based in Narok. The Project Extension Officer will work on full time basis to ensure that the project outputs and activities in the area of assignment are carried out as laid down in the project documents and are articulated to meet the laid down project objectives. He or she must be willing to be based and travel extensively in the field.
Major duties include:

  • organising local communities into catchment management / conservation groups, strengthening and building their capacities;
  • Mobilizing and supporting members of the Trans-boundary Water Users Forum in developing their constitution and interpreting the relevant acts, ensuring that the forum operates as a legal entity;
  • participate in and support the Project Executant in the design and execution of capacity building for partners through key stakeholders;
  • Identify catchment management and related conservation needs and design and implement sustainable measures to address these needs: Support information gathering, baseline surveys and awareness raising on Payment for Environmental Services and other areas and supporting the establishment of a mechanism for operationalizing the same;
  • Soliciting support and ensuring participation of government departments and other relevant partner agencies to undertake their role and responsibilities in the project.

Regulatory Specialist Wanted in Kenya::Kenyan Jobs





He / she will report to the Global Regulatory Manager and will be based in Kenya.

The scope will include managing the interface between regulatory agencies at the country level and various business units in order to meet timelines and regulatory requirements; ensure successful registrations and regulatory approvals that are critical for timely product launches for the company’s financial success; provide direction, speed and knowledge for the company’s products registration on a regional basis.

The Regulatory Specialist is expected to:

Define requirements to efficiently generate data packages for product chemistry, toxicology, environmental and product performance data necessary to receive approvals in a timely manner and meet sales objectives
Keeping up to date with the company’s product range
Record / registration document preparation for all authorities
Maintain registration / renewal licenses by company, distributors, or agents in target countries
Develop product and packaging labels in regional language specifications to ensure compliance; obtain approvals for these labels
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) translations to local languages for all products
Responsible to ensure trademarks are registered in specified countries
Interface with authorities through direct meetings and communications
Liaising with and making presentations to regulatory authorities
Contribute to annual budget for regional regulatory activities
Know, interpret, and influence regulatory guidelines within region
Maintain knowledge of permits and licenses necessary for import and export of products from countries in the region
Communicate the impact of technical and regulatory issues on existing and potential market opportunities
Outline complex regulatory options and make appropriate recommendations for action
Work closely with the project managers, product teams within the various business units and Global Regulatory Manager to support projects to expand uses of current products

This position will suit qualified degree holders in B.S / M.S and at least 3-5 years experience in Agrochemicals / Pesticide registration in Kenya and Sub Saharan Africa region.

Essential skills include: extensive knowledge in developing protocols and analyzing data reports for registration requirements; capable of representing the interests of the company effectively to a range of regulatory agencies and government officials; have knowledge of registration requirements of target region; possess additional language skills.

Programme Officer job in kenya– Agribusiness





The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates and promotes access and delivery of appropriate proprietary agricultural technologies for use by resource-poor smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Nairobi, but working across the continent, AATF fosters its mission through public/private partnerships to reach its target farmers. The Foundation is a one-stop-shop that provides expertise and know-how that facilitates the identification, access, development, delivery and utilisation of proprietary agricultural technologies.


To accomplish specific tasks as it implements its portfolio, AATF is looking for a qualified and experienced
Programme Officer – Agribusiness
Under the direct supervision of the Business Development Manager, the Programme Officer is responsible for providing and supporting innovative business solutions in the AATF business processes through assisting in coming up with feasibility and baseline studies, impact assessments, deployment and commercialisation of agricultural technologies, value chain analysis and creating market linkages across AATF projects.
The Programme Officer will also assist in monitoring and evaluation.
Terms of Reference

Assist in the implementation of agribusiness development activities for AATF
Support the implementation of M&E for AATF
Support all activities in the Business Development Unit
Assist in the creation of market access and linkages
Support any special assignments in the Business Development Unit in particular and the Technical Operations Department in general

Qualifications


The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent in economics, agricultural economics, business, agribusiness or related field.
She/ he should have at least 3 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing business and management development services, hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
Work experience in agriculture will be an advantage.
Experience in the use of computers, office software packages, and in handling web based management systems is an advantage.

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based in Nairobi and is on a 2-year renewable contract subject to individual performance and availability of funds.
Salary and benefits will be in line with those provided within AATF’s NRS scheme.
