FIELD OFFICER (MEDICAL & SURGICAL SUPPLIES)
Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a registered Trust of the Kenya Episcopal
Conference (KEC) and Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) with a mandate to provide
reliable, quality and affordable essential drugs, medical supplies, training and other
pharmaceutical services.
MEDS seeks to fill the position of Field Officer (Medical & Surgical Supplies), to provide sales,
marketing and client support of these products for business growth and sustainability.
Applicants must be holders of a Degree in any Business related field and Diploma in Nursing or
Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
This should be backed by at least 5 years work experience 2 of which in a busy hospital theatre
or surgical ward and the rest in selling and marketing.

Responsibilities
Compile distribution reports and monthly reports
Coordinate BSFP activities with other Nutrition activities
Work closely with DHMT for systematic treatment
Attend meetings -  DSG Coordination meetings


Qualifications
Degree in Nutrition, Nursing or any Health related field
Diploma in Nursing, Nutrition with 3 years experience in Community Nutrition
Experienced in food distribution preferably BSFP
Committed and hardworking person -  ready to work overtime and meet strict deadlines.

SITE  SUPERVISORS (7 POSITIONS)
The BSFP Supervisor will oversee the entire BSFP distribution in different sites.
 Responsibilities
Update the project Coordinator regularly on distribution
Make sure that all the protocols are observed during distribution days.
Compile site distribution reports and monthly reports
Work closely with facility incharge for acquiring vaccines and any other materials/equipment for systematic treatment.

MALARIA HEALTH SYSTEM AND SURVEILLANCE COORDINATOR
Location: Kenya - Garissa (including other locations in agreement with the Programme Director)
Reporting to: Technical Director, for technical planning + Programme Director, for daily activities
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 1 year
Fee Structure: Consultancy Fee and package commensurate to experience
Overall Task
This person will help to lead the work of a specialist malaria control team for a four year special Initiative funded by the UK charity
Comic Relief which started in January 2010 to establish an effective and replicable model for malaria control in the epidemic prone area
of north east Kenya, one of the worst climate change affected areas of Africa. The programme will work with a network or local,
regional, national and international partners to achieve new standards and guidance for malaria control amongst pastoralist
communities, in semi arid areas of Kenya and other countries.
This person will be directly responsible for the effective planning, coordination and implementation of all malaria control activities at
heath services level, in partnership with affected communities, the Ministry of Health District Health Team, the MoH Division of
Malaria Control, international, and national malaria control and research partners.
Specific tasks:
• Support Vector Borne
Team Building and Management
• Manage the national malaria case management and surveillance technical team, including recruitment, team building and
activity management
• Coordinate and collaborate with the district and regional teams of the Ministry of Health, and national organizations working
in Garissa in the development of malaria work plan priorities and schedules for all activities planned at health service level.
• Build the capacity of the national clinical team and the MoH counterparts in Garissa, to reinforce their technical planning and
delivery capacity.
Operational Research
• Oversee the implementation of the health services M&E malaria plan for the programme to ensure that the data for indicators
is being collected accurately, analysed and reported
• Design, plan and implement periodic follow-up surveys of health facility services and capacity, health worker capacity and
practices for malaria, malaria diagnostic and treatment accuracy.
• Periodic monitoring and evaluation of health service malaria case management capacity and service quality
• Support several Master Degree students in the implementation of the operational research projects designed under the Grant,
including P. Falciparum and P. vivax prevalence surveys; potential benefits of RDT usage in health facilities for malaria RDT
negative patients and others in partnership with KEMRI, DoMC, Welcome Trust and other international research partners.
• Collaborate with the clinical data entry clerk to ensure that data management remains timely and robust.
• Ensure that research deadlines are met.
Building High Quality Malaria Case Management Capacity:
• Work with the MoH District Heath Team to ensure the joint planning and delivery of technical training of district health
workers for differential disease diagnosis, confirmatory malaria diagnosis and case management of uncomplicated and severe
malaria cases.
• Establishment and management of, as well as active participation in, joint technical coaching of health workers at facility level
and standardized supervision and monitoring of health services indicators for malaria case management
• Production and dissemination of job aids and technical guidelines for health workers
• Improving the capacity of health facility teams to effectively identify, record and report patient symptoms and confirmed
malaria and non malaria cases through existing epidemiological surveillance systems

Job Description
Jacaranda Health is seeking several nurses or midwives to staff our first mobile maternity clinic in Nairobi. We seek nurses with good experience in maternal and child health and a strong commitment to providing friendly and respectful care to all women. Our first nurses will serve as leaders in quality improvement, and also ambassador to the community.


Jacaranda Health aims to become a chain of maternal health clinics and also a pioneer in maternal health innovation. Along with their clinical duties, the nurses will have the opportunity to work with new technologies and quality improvement techniques, and work with clinicians and advisors at the forefront of maternal health. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new clinical skills, receive mentorship in a clinical setting, and CME.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive antenatal care, postnatal care, and family planning for mothers and mothers-to-be in Jacaranda’s mobile clinic
Provide friendly, helpful service, advice, guidance, and education to all patients.
Maintain patient data using our electronic medical records system
Keep accurate records and remain committed to quality control
Provide comprehensive PMTCT services and counseling and referrals for HIV.
Maintain a good relationship with the community and other clinic staff
Work closely with peer educators, CHWs, and traditional birth attendants for outreach and education within the community
Work closely with the Jacaranda Health management team to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in clinical quality and clinic operations

Desired Qualifications

The desired candidate should possess the following:

Certificate in nursing from a recognized institution. A Diploma or Degree in nursing may be an added advantage
At least 3 years of clinical experience serving women, preferably in labor wards or maternities
Strong interpersonal skills and empathy: equally comfortable providing one-on-one counseling and presenting birth-preparedness education to groups
A commitment to providing world-class care, and the curiosity and commitment to excellence needed for continuous quality improvement
Excellent analytical reasoning skills and meticulous attention to detail
Computer literacy, preferably with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work effectively and interdependently in a culturally diverse environment
A good understanding of community dynamics. Knowledge and familiarity with low-income urban areas of Nairobi will be an added advantage
