The Job
Reporting to the Chief Manager, Internal Audit & Risk Compliance, and the holder will
undertake reviews of the NKCC’s ICT infrastructure and provide assurance to
management on the adequacy of the system controls.

Key Responsibilities
• Conducting regular risk assessments in The NKCC’s Information System and
recommend measures to mitigate them.
• Contribute to the development of the annual Information Systems audit plan,
programmes and schedules on priority basis.
• Auditing of automated systems and information technology in all areas of The
NKCC as per annual Information Systems audit plan.
• Examination of automated systems and information technology to determine the
extent of compliance with the company’s policies and procedure requirements.
• Provide support to other assurance processes to ensure the overall system audit
opinion incorporate the risks identified in the underlying information systems.
• Review, test and rate controls and functions in information systems.
• Review, test and rate controls of all system security at all levels from access to
disaster recovery plans.
• Extract data from complex computer systems to facilitate audit compliance and
substantive testing procedure by use of CAATS.
• Assist in identifying suitable audit areas and approaches when the information
systems strategy changes.
• Ensure that financial and operational audit programmes include sufficient and
relevant information systems audit tests.
• Preparation of draft reports for review by Chief Manager, Internal Audit & Risk
Compliance and carrying out audit follow-ups on completed audits.

The Candidate
• A degree in Information Systems preferably BSC in Computer Science from a
recognized University.
• Professional Qualifications in Certified Information Systems Audit (CISA) or
Certified Information Systems Management (CISM) is desirable.
• 2-3 years experience in Information Systems audit within an internal audit
function or external audit work experience specializing in Information Systems
audit from a reputable audit firm.
• Ability to apply professional and other skills acquired in an Enterprise Resource
Planning environment.
• Good understanding of information systems controls and techniques for
evaluating such controls, concept of risk and risk assessment.
• Sufficient understanding of diverse information systems environment and
architecture, software, computer operations and systems lifecycle.
• Thorough understanding of business processes and of Network Security and
controls for LAW/WAN.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of CAATS/auditing software is desirable.

Summary:
The main job purpose is to ensure the Programme's compliance with legal and other regulatory requirements regarding Health and
Safety in the entire Programme premises.
REPORTING LINES:

JOB DIMENSIONS:
The Health & Safety Officer will work closely with Senior Managers, and establish close working relationships with all members of
staff across the entire Programme, including those working in its satellite research sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinating the implementation of the Health and Safety programmes which are consistent with the Programme’s Health &
Safety Policy.
• Implementing effective safe work control procedures and systems in the workplace in order to comply with legal and other
regulatory guidelines, which will be applied consistently by all employees throughout the Programme’s facilities.
• Carrying out regular workplace health and safety inspections and audits to ensure that Health & Safety policies are being
effectively implemented and followed; maintaining records of the inspection and audit findings and liaising with Senior
Managers in coordinating implementation of the recommendations.
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and
Environmental legislation and developments in biomedical and healthcare industry and liaising with regulatory agencies (e.g.,
Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), etc.
to ensure compliance.
• Liaising with relevant government regulatory authorities and approved Health & Safety Advisers and service providers on
health and safety matters, including statutory OSH trainings (fire safety, first aid etc) and audits.
• Maintaining system for recording, reporting and investigating workplace injuries, accidents/incidents and dangerous
occurrences involving staff and company equipment, providing monthly statistical summaries to Management and drawing
attention to significant trends and occurrences.
• Liaising with the Human Resource Department and Senior Management to identify, coordinate, and conduct Health and
Safety trainings and induction for all employees, students and visitors.
• Liaising with Human Resource Department and the Occupational Health Service Nurse to establish an Occupational Health
Service database, including management of records of staff vaccinations, occupational injuries and illnesses, and statutory
medical examinations.
• Coordinating investigations on workplace health and safety concerns, accidents/incidents, dangerous occurrences, injuries and
ill health as outlined in the OSH Act 2007 and other relevant legislation and guidelines.
• Coordinating the Health and Safety Committee meetings and take minutes of discussions.
• Coordinating Waste Management Program for Programme.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
• A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field (Biomedical, Environmental Sciences, Health & Safety related, Engineering or
equivalent).
• Postgraduate training in Occupational Safety and Health will be an added advantage.
• In depth knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 2007 and other related regulatory legislation and
requirements.
• At least two (2) years working experience in implementing Health & Safety management systems in a medium to large
institution/company, experience in a research environment or healthcare institution will be an added advantage.
• Excellent computing skills including Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Work planning skills
• A good team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural
teams.
• Good communication (including both oral and written) skills.
• Effective multi-tasking skills, with ability to coordinate, prioritize, organize and work independently under minimal
supervision

Job purpose: Strategic Information Oversight and Management


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct multi site analysis of Faith based affiliated health facilities data on key reports required by stakeholders in Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley province (Region 2)
  • Compile and submit the monthly, quarterly and semi-annual reports
  • Ensure the necessary approval for these reports is obtained on a timely basis
  • Facilitate annual work plans, conferences for shared experiences, and additional trainings as required on strategic information
  • Represent M&E aspects of the program at Government, Donors, NGO’s and other working group meetings
  • Ensure that faith based affiliated health facilities have the equipment, staff, training and systems in place to comply with all donor and national health information requirements and to meet the needs of all program patients, staff and facilities
  • Improve the ways in which faith based affiliated health facilities collect, manage and use data so that program and patient monitoring is performed at increasingly comprehensive levels and gaps in services are addressed earlier and more effectively
